DOWNTOWN OAKLAND

'Downtown Oakland' is the central business district in Oakland, California. The part of town is bounded by I-880 on the south, I-980 on the west, 20th Street on the north and Lake Merritt on the east. It is home to numerous businesses, tall buildings, the headquarters of Clorox, Old Oakland, City Center and Chinatown.
Downtown Oakland is sometimes expanded to include Jack London Square, Lake Merritt and Uptown Oakland, which are considered separate parts of town. It is served by the Oakland City Center/12th Street BART station, a major transfer point. Broadway and 14th Street are considered the "crossroads of Oakland" as it is the main intersection here.
